The tater tower

Following a “lazy gardening” hack I saw on Pinterest this year, I built a potato cage using scrap wire fencing and lining it with newspaper to retain the soil.

I planted seed potatoes that I purchased from the local hardware store, as well as half-sprouted potatoes from my pantry. A TOWER of taters!

After setting up the potato cage, I later found last year’s harvest of fingerling potatoes were all sprouted! Potatoes are the gift that keep on giving.

A few weeks later, and I’m seeing plants push up through the soil. Time for another layer of dirt…
