Strawberry blooms

Last year’s strawberry buds were white, but this year they’re bright pink. The change in color could be due to the variety of strawberries—these might be different plants that thrived in the warm winter—or it’s just that the weather is different this year. That’s certainly been true, with unpredictable wind storms and now a small heat wave.

Regardless of the reason the flowers changed, it’s cool to see the change in color and I’m salivating thinking about the upcoming harvest. I can’t to have them for breakfast or just snack on them while I’m working in the garden, like I do with chives!
