    An overflowing greenhouse

    By Kat / May 2, 2023
A greenhouse filled with potted plants.

I planted seven pepper plants this weekend and started hardening off the tomatoes, so the greenhouse is becoming very crowded. J and I have been brainstorming different ways to expand the greenhouse and make more room for plants this year and next. One option we’ve looked into is utilizing a green stalk, where layers of plants are stacked on top…

    Scapes galore

    By Kat / May 1, 2023
A straw-covered raised garden bed with green garlic shoots coming up from the soil.

Late last year, I put my first real “rescue box” crop in the ground—garlic. It was also the very first crop I put into the ground upon moving to the farm. I swear, growing your own garlic is so much better than buying it at the store… I had planted 24 cloves and most of them came up in late…

    The tiniest harvest

    By Kat / April 27, 2023
A plate of fresh food topped with microgreens.

On Sunday morning, J made us a scramble and I topped mine with cress microgreens, which made for a spicy and delicious breakfast. It’s not easy to find a ton of ways to integrate greens into breakfast, but microgreens have given me tiny harvest dopamine and lots of ways to spice up every meal. Now that I’m regularly growing my…
