Even the most delicate plants can be so resilient! This lush bed of lettuce has really surprised me with how it’s handling the harsh heat this summer.
Despite the vicious UV rays that beat down my lettuce crops not too long ago, this is one of my happiest crops and it continues to amaze me. I wonder if the lettuce grew more UV-resistant leaves after their near-death encounter? And if so, I would also wonder if their seeds carry that same resiliency now?
This severe heat has me thinking ahead to next year already — there are some types of lettuce that are naturally more heat-resistant and I might try to stick with those varieties!
