Garlic is the harbinger of fall and it surely has not been subtle this year.
When garlic finishes growing, it comes out of the ground for a few weeks, and then I bundle it up and hang it to dry.
Not long after that, the stars begin to twinkle with nighttime cold, and I know it’s time to plant next year’s cloves to snuggle in for the winter wait.
Despite feeling a bit wistful with summer’s farewell, I can’t help but feel excited for all of the fall tasks and projects that come with wrapping up a successful year in the garden.
