Yes, friends… a blog.
Another freakin’ blog.
The world needed more of these, right? Sure! I say, yes. Yes it did. Or, rather, I needed a blog.
I’ve been writing since I was five, which is now about a decade longer than I like to admit. Somehow… I’ve never really run a blog.
It’s time.
I do a lot of stuff. I’ve got a cool day job, which might crop up now and then but will mostly stay in the background where it belongs, but what I’m really excited about — and kinda can’t stop talking about — is my farm and my creative life. And that’s what this blog is going to be all about: what goes on in this little plot of land that my husband J, my husky G, and four goats (plus other livestock guests) call home, the art and memories that we make, and the creativity-first life we lead. I like to talk about it, but not everyone likes to listen, so if you’re here and reading this I’ll assume that you do. This blog is my excuse to blabber about what I enjoy, what inspires me, and what’s going on in my life.
I plan to share my specifics, like my meals plans, my gardening progress, and how my creative projects are going — but I also plan to share general techniques that you can use if you, too, want to cultivate your dream.
Because it’s not like you just snap your fingers and suddenly you’re living the life you always wanted. It takes small, determined, repetitive steps to get there. You have to be dedicated to following your inner compass and making sacrifices to get to where it’s taking you. You have to cultivate the life you want.
And you have to live it now. Because let’s face it… in these trying times (eyeroll, but it’s true), there’s no telling how many sunrises you get to savor what you have. Sometimes you have to stop thinking about the future and just enjoy what’s happening right now. And I’ll talk about that too. A lot, actually, because it’s something I’m not great at but I want to be better at. And what better way than being accountable on a blog?
(I’m sure there are better ways, but here we are.)
I’m excited to go on this weird little journey, and I hope you find something that inspires you to, step by step, build the life you want. I’ll see you there.
